The Oneiric

 

Dream Master Prestige Class


The Dream Master delves into all aspects of the dream experience. Ultimately they can walk into the Region of Dreams and manipulate other's as well as their own dreams. They can even bring the stuff of dreams to reality. Dream Masters are powerful in the dream world, but are relatively weak in the real world. By necessity, they must find a good, safe place to conduct their dreaming, and they must keep a dream journal, recording the dreams that they have as soon as and whenever they wake up from a dream.

Requirements


To qualify to become a member of the Dream Master prestige class, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria:


Alignment: Any

Skills: Concentration, 4 ranks; Knowledge (the Planes), 8 ranks


Special: Dream Masters must keep a Dream Journal and write in it after every remembered dream experience.

The Dream Master's class skills are: Bluff, Concentration, Decipher Script, Diplomacy, Gather Information, Knowledge (Region of Dreams), Search, Sense Motive, Spot, Survival, Use Magic Device.

Sleep Spell

A Dream Master may cast the Sleep spell once per day per Dream Master class level. It is an essential part of his abilities, to meet people in the dream world, so they develop this ability.


Dream Life

A Dream Master may begin a new life in the world of dreams, as if they are skilled in another character class. These class abilities increase at the same rate as the Dream Master's class levels. They are only functional when he's on the Dream Scapes or in the Dream Heart of the Region of Dreams.


Dream Incubation

Starting at 2nd level the Dream Master can begin the night by meditating for 10 minutes on one of four abilities:


Problem Solving

Given a math problem, riddle, or difficult decision to make, the Dream master can dream about finding a solution in a dream. The DC for the item depends on it complexity, but the Dream Master will have another chance to solve it, with a +1 per two Dream Master Levels.


Practice for Real Life

Knowing what task must be attempted for the next day, the Dream Master dreams about it and practices it. They then gain a +1 for each Dream Master Level in the attempt that they make the next day when they try doing that task. This does not stack if the DM tries to Practice more than once in a given night.


Healing

By deaming about healing of injuries, the Dream Master can accelerate his own healing by 1 hp/two Dream Master Levels.


Learning or Memorization

Spells may be relearned in half the usual time or songs or stories are learned at the rate of 1 per incubation up to the length of one pageworth of material.

Internal Alarm Clock

The oneiric is aware of how long they have been sleeping and they may wake up after any length of time that (s)he determines.   If (s)he wants to sleep for exactly 7 hours, for example, (s)he will able able to do so to the minute.

Light Sleeping

The oneiric as the Light Sleeping feat.

Dream Empathy

The oneiric can always tell when someone is dreaming and basically if it's a good dream or a bad dream.

Dream Travel

This is an 8th level spell, Dream Travel, as an ability usable 1/night at 4th level and twice per night at 8th level. It is found on p.202 of the Manual of the Planes.


Prognostication

This effectively functions as the 2nd level Cleric spell, Augury. However, if the spell fails, the dreamer gets a confused message or a misleading message about the future.


Out of Body Experience

The Dream Master may assume a dream-like ghost form, that may travel up to 1 mile per Dream Master Level, scouting the area to see or hear signs of whatever is there.


Dream Incubate Another

Through guidance of another's meditation, the Dream Master will lend one of the four abilities to another as they themselves dream on the subject. This takes a half an hour prior to their falling asleep.


Dream made Real

Any one dream creature up to 10 HD or mundane or magical dream item may be brought into the real world. Items must not have a value greater than 25000 gp. One one such item may be created in this fashion at a time by a single Dream Master.
